Hi there. Thanks for the information. The AT light never was blinking. It just comes on only during start up after it’s been sitting for many hours. It only comes on solid for about 20 seconds then cuts off. No blinking.
I have checked the fluid often. It’s full. When I first bought the car some years ago I had the dealer do an oil change and they topped off all fluids and I kept an eye on the fluid over the years as well considering the issue with the delayed engagement. The fluid was checked last month and apparently didn’t smell burnt or anything and wasn’t low either. There are no leaks.

I haven’t done a fluid change because I read repeatedly that doing so can make transmission worse especially if there are high miles on the car.
I also read on a forum about changing out the fluid and adding “crc trans x stop slip fluid”. Folks said it cleared up their tranny issues but the transmission shop says not to use it of course. I only paid a few thousand dollars for the car so I am not gonna spend a thousand on the transmission. It’s for my son who is in college on a budget. Just trying to figure out the best thing to do to make the car hold out longer until he can get a new car.
