The JF016E transmission / RE0F10D transmission is often known as the Jatco CVT8 or Nissan Xtronic CVT. This continuously variable transmission doesn’t have conventional forward gears, but rather uses a band suspended between two pulleys that can adjust themselves to create the optimal gear ratio for performance or economy. An automatic transmission of this type provides a good balance between performance and fuel economy. But, JF016E valve body problems / RE0F10D valve body problems can happen. So let’s take a look at the most common Nissan CVT valve body problems, and figure out what you can do about them.

P0743 | Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Electrical |
Failed or shaking torque converter
Problem – This common JF016E / RE0F10D valve body problem is often accompanied by torque converter clutch / TCC diagnostic trouble codes. It’s caused by a loss of hydraulic control by the lockup control valve.
Solution – To fix this Nissan CVT problem, the TC switch/regulator bore will have to be repaired and a new lockup control valve installed. If the damage is too severe, a remanufactured JF016E valve body will be needed.
Push belt slipping and delayed engagement
Problem – Another common JF016E / RE0F10D valve body problem occurs when the main pressure regulator bore becomes damaged. This results in reduced hydraulic pressure, which causes a number of drivability issues from this Nissan xTronic CVT.
Solution – If resurfacing the main pressure regulator bore and installing a new pressure regulator valve does not work, a remanufactured JF016E / RE0F10D valve body will need to be installed.
Chatter and slipping on acceleration
Problem – This JF016E / RE0F10D valve body problem is often caused by an pressure leak in the primary pulley reduction valve circuit, due to excessive wear on the primary reduction valve reduction valve bore and/or the valve components.
What Transmission Do I Have?

Solution – In order to fix this issue on the Jatco/Nissan CVT8 transmission, the bore will have to be resurfaced, and a new valve installed. If that does not work, then a new remanufactured JF016E / RE0F10D valve body will need to be installed.
