Rodent damage to the 2009 – 2011 Toyota Corolla triggering a P0717 DTC

According to the technical service bulletin TSB 0180-11, the 2009 – 2011 Toyota Corolla equipped with the 2ZR-FE 1.8L engine and the U341E 4-speed automatic transmission, is for some reason prone to rodent damage to the NC wiring circuit harness near the sensor connector. This will trigger a P0717 and possibly other electrical or drivability issues.

Toyota says that this problem affects all Corolla vehicles with the Toyota 2ZR engine built at the NUMMI plant as well as the Kanto factory. In order to solve the problem, design changes were made for the 2011 model year. To repair the problem, Toyota created a harness repair kit that was designed to prevent the furry critters from feasting on the cars wiring.

In this age of economic uncertainty, you might want to consider keeping your vehicle on the road for as long as possible. Interest rates and car prices aren’t going down  anytime soon. So if the rest of your car is in decent order mechanically, a remanufactured U341E transmission can keep you on the road a lot longer than a standard rebuild. It’s also warrantied for 3-years/unlimited miles, and that warranty is good anywhere in the country. Plus we offer low-to-no interest financing too.
