R150 Transmission & R150F Transmission: Specs, Problems & Where to Buy

R150F | R150F Transmission Overview

The R150 transmission and R150F transmission are a pair of 5-speed manual transmissions that were built by Aisin, and used in the 1988-2004 Toyota pickup, Toyota Tacoma and Toyota 4Runner from 1989 – 2002. These are hearty little gearboxes and are actually variations of the Jeep AX15. The biggest difference besides gear ratios is the length of the input shaft and the tailhousing. The ‘F’ signifies 4WD, so the R150 transmission would have obviously been used in 2WD the Yoda’s. And in case you were wondering, the difference between the Toyota R150 and Toyota R150F, are the tail shafts and tail housings.
