What Transmission Do I Have?

The Problem

Back in 2008, General Motors issued the TSB 08-07-30-008B, because many drivers had reported experiencing slipping and an unusually harsh 1-2 shift. These symptoms were usually accompanied by a check engine light and the diagnostic trouble codes P0804 and/or P1870.

It was determined that this problem could be caused by the torque converter or torque converter clutch not functioning properly. The reason for this could be:

A cracked or leaking 4L60 TCC enable solenoid
A cracked or leaking TCC PWM solenoid
A failed torque converter clutch valve
A damaged turbine shaft O ring seal
