How Serious is the Code?

A P2759 diagnostic trouble code is actually pretty serious. If the ECU cannot control the torque converter clutch, a number of transmission problems can occur, including slipping and engine stalling.

Symptoms

Symptoms of a P2759 include:

  • Erratic, delayed or harsh shifts
  • Transmission slipping
  • Engine stalls when coming to a stop
  • Transmission gets stuck in a gear
  • Vehicle won’t move when in gear
  • Lower MPG
  • Transmission overheats
  • Limp mode

Causes

  • Not enough transmission fluid
  • Dirty transmission fluid / filter
  • Damaged wiring/connector
  • Transmission fluid leak
  • Malfunctioning torque converter clutch pressure control solenoid
  • Defective torque converter clutch
  • Bad torque converter
  • Blocked pressure passage
  • Valve body issue
  • TCM or ECU failure

How to Diagnose the Code?

Not having enough transmission fluid or dirty transmission fluid, can actually cause the TCC pressure control solenoid to malfunction. So the first step to diagnosing a P2759 OBD2 trouble code, is to check the transmission fluid. The next step should be to check the condition of the wiring on the transmission wiring harness. If everything looks good, the torque converter clutch pressure control solenoid will have to be tested.
