P0813: Reverse Output Circuit OBD-II Trouble Code

When you shift your vehicle into reverse, signals travel back and forth to the ECU from the reverse input switch. If there is an irregularity in the voltage signal on that circuit, a P0813 DTC will be set.

When diagnosing a P0813 OBDII trouble code, the wiring and connectors on the circuit will have to be carefully examined for signs of shorts, frayed wires and other damage. Connectors will need to be examined for signs of corrosion and broken pins. Reverse input switch will also need to be tested, along with the appropriate fuses and bulbs.
