Although America’s favorite pickup truck is built Ford tough, it does have transmission problems from time to time. On trucks equipped with the 5.4 L V-8 and 6R75 or 6R80 transmission, owners may notice a significant delay from the time they shift into reverse or drive, and that gear actually engages.

Well, the most likely culprit of this Ford F150 transmission problem are cracks in the front pump adapter seal. They tend to form in the corners of the Mechatronic assembly’s molded frame.
If this is the case, the main oil pressure regulator valve inside the lower half of the valve body will also have to be inspected. In this case, the valve itself may stick and the bore that it lives in could become damaged. Although the TSB states that the valve and bore can be cleaned, it’s best to have the entire valve body either rebuilt or replaced with a warrantied remanufactured 6R75/6R80 valve body.
